Praeludium For Two Cellos and Piano (Live)
Pralaedium is the first of a set of five pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich, arranged by his friend Lev Atovmyan. This piece was recorded live at Second Presbyterian Church on November 15, 2021, by ALIAS cellists Sari Reist and Nicholas Gold, with Melissa Rose on piano.
This piece is taken from Shostakovich’s score for the 1955 Russian film The Gadfly. Unlike his usual works of sharp contrasts and ambiguous tonality, this piece is beautiful and straightforward.
